According to the Vedic culture, the message of Deepawali is
Asatho maa sadgamaya
Thamaso maa jyothir gamaya
Mrityour maa amritham gamaya
From the unreal lead me to the real,
From darkness lead me to the light,
From death lead me to immortality
Deepawali is a Hindu festival popularly known as the festival of lights. It falls on the last day of the waning Moon after the Dushhera. On this day Lakshmi and Ganesh are worshipped for wealth and prosperity.
This is a time for the illumination of the mind and our existence so that we remain in the mode of goodness. The worship of Lord Ganesha, along with Goddess Lakshmi, symbolizes the ushering of Success and Prosperity - after the destruction of Evil during the "Devi Paksha". The light of prosperity is lit in each home while success brightens each of our efforts.
Goddess Lakshmi – The goddess of affluence and abundance represents the beautiful and the bountiful aspect of life. As the earth goddess she nurtures life and as the goddess of fortune she bestows power, pleasure and prosperity. To be worthy of her grace, one has to be respectful of the laws of life and appreciate the wonders of creation and existence. Her grace is assured to one who does not abuse her gifts.
Lord Ganesha – Lord Ganesh is upheld as ‘Sidhi data’ or giver of success. One performs a spiritual Ceremony in order to connect to the power that governs the universe; the access is un-denied once the power of Ganesha is invoked through prayers. Lord Ganesha is always worshipped before any Hindu spiritual ceremony. He is associated with ‘Sidhi’ or success in all forms, be it effort, devotion, or any new venture.
Let the Festival of Light, Deepawali, enlighten your existence in the best way possible. The worship of Lord Ganesha, the remover of obstacles, along with Goddess Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth, symbolizes the light of prosperity in each home while success enriches each of our efforts. This is the time for prayer, for blessings, bounties of fortune and excellence of effort.
